kdmalloryHow do I begin this post? I’ll start by saying my heart is heavy. And I know I’m not alone when I say that being an American in these tenuous times requires all of us to find ways to resist the current regime. If you’re burying your head in the sand and carrying on as though it’s business as usual, you’re making a grave mistake. If you’re not participating in some act of resistance you’re a complicit partner of theTrump-Musk Administration while they embarrass us and run amuck. Like cruel little children who have seized immense power they are drunk with it, weilding it indiscriminately—adopting unconscionable policies, engaging in behaviors that are an assault on Democracy, morality and decency.
We all saw the Trump-Vance show yesterday. A vile, disgusting show of ignorance, cruelty, and disrespect perpetrated against President Vladimir Zelenskyy during a White House visit. The administration thinks they’re strong. They laughed as they tried to demoralize him because he asked for help. They laughed and demeaned him because he and his people have suffered and continue to experience immense loss. The Trump administration wanted to humiliate Zelenskyy by trying to broker a deal that would in essence force him to give away half of his country’s wealth in exchange for our help. Which I might add we discontinued when Trump and Musk took office. The nerve of Marjorie Taylor Green’s boyfriend to berate Zelensky because he wasn’t wearing a suit. What an idiot. At least he’s not a draft dodger like Trump. At least he’s not a convicted felon like Trump. At least Zelenskyy has the courage to stand with his countrymen in the trenches of war.
By their actions yesterday, the Trump administration proved their unwavering commitment to Putin, a muderous, evil dictator-tyrant who invaded a sovereign nation and brutally murdered its citizens. I’m still angry about it. We can never become innocuous to the brutal killing and raping of Ukrainians. But why were we surprised by the President’s actions? In truth, Donald Trump is a direct descendant of a KKK member. I’m not being dramatic when I say that essentially, his father took an oath penned by the devil himself and swore to uphold the tenants of its demonic doctrine. We shouldn’t expect rainbows and light and love from his son. The sins of the father, remember? So if you voted for Trump, you’re kidding yourself if you think it’s possible to do a deal with devil and come out of it without smelling like the fires of hell. Because that’s where you’ve have to crawl to do a deal with the devil.
Which leads me to this. I have got to talk about these Republican town halls where their constituents are booing their Republican lawmakers for doing absolutely nothing to stop DOGE. To stop the cuts that are affecting veterans. I have mixed feelings about all that. On one hand I’m glad the voters are making their voices heard. That’s the American way. But on the other hand I’m furious with those voters. How’s it feel folks to see you all signed veterans’ termination papers and cut their services? And the services to rural hospitals, children, and the elderly, and those with special needs? Listen, Repubs have long threatened to cut Medicaid and Social Security. FOR YEARS. And so, why are you surprised they’re finally doing it? One man at a Kansas town hall said, “I’m all for the cuts to the government, but it’s the way you’re doing it. The cuts are affecting the veterans.” What can I say besides this: You thought the cuts would only affect brown folks? I mean who did you think would suffer from Republican budget cuts? Did you think the left lied when they said the Republican Party is for the rich? I just don’t understand these republican voters. You’re finally getting what the Republicans have promised and you see something very clearly : YOU DON’T MATTER. YOU’RE NOT THE PEOPLE THEY CARE ABOUT SUPPORTING. But they’ll vote out the lawmakers and put a different Republican in—one who will lie to them and say they won’t support Trump. They’ll do this because at their core, they’re protecting White power. What other conclusion can we draw? You don’t touch a stove that’s hot over and over again. You’re going to get burned. And shame on you Republican members of the House and Senate. I’ll bet that most of your constituents didn’t believe they were signing a deal with the devil when they put y’all in office. But you all knew. The authors of Project 2025 knew. Christian Nationalists knew. And y’all will have to answer to God for lying and misleading people who trusted you, who believed you had some respect for the constitution and our laws and the American people.
Let me get back to the abhorrent show put on by the Trump admin in the Oval Office. There’s no justification for Vance. Or any of the other members of the admin who took part in yesterday’s spectacle. They’re just mean. They love Trump. They love Putin. Because they love evil. Or money? Come on y’all. These lawmakers have to get something out of supporting Trump.
My heart is heavy because every day Trump and Musk dismantle the federal government and its institutions. Mercilessly and unjustly terminate federal workers. Some guy named “Big Balls” has all our data. This is really happening. The Repubs just passed a bill to gut Medicaid designed to care for the elderly and sick children and rural hospitals and so so much more. What are the Dems doing about it? Going through the courts to control a rogue admin isn’t enough. Especially when said rogue admin refuses to comply with court orders.
My heart is heavy because our government rejects our European Allies and aligns itself with dictatorships around the world. This should be absolutely unacceptable to ALL AMERICANS. I believe every WWII Veteran who fought against Hitler and died to protect Democracy and our freedoms are doing more than just rolling over in their graves. They’re pleading with God to have mercy on our country and on its people. I pray God will have mercy upon us and not hold us accountable for the actions of the Trump Administration. I pray God will prosper His people and help us forgive those in our government who spitefully use us, hurt us, lie to us, stab us in the back, and steal from us. This is also about us. This moment in history calls upon each of us to do some soul searching and repenting. How much have I cursed since Trump took office? Mother F*** has been my go to. Still, we must control our anger. We must pray for our politicians even when they purposefully lie. Lord have mercy that’s a hard one. And Jesus is still working on me with that. But it’s not just the politicians who are dishonest. Sometimes, it’s the media too. The right wing media distorts the truth and is committed to deepening the divide between us. And all too often the left doesn’t report the things they should.
A special shout out to Black journalists like Joy Reid, Melissa Harris-Perry, and Tiffany Cross. We see you. We are grateful for your service. We are better informed because of you.
I’m taking this moment in history to applaud Zelenskyy for his heroism. For his courage. For his resolve. For his unwavering commitment to his country. To freedom and democracy for his people. I applaud President Zelenskyy for maintaining his dignity and composure in a moment designed to humiliate him on the world stage. I stand with the courageous Ukrainian soldiers who every day put their lives on the line for their people and their country. I stand with the people of Ukraine. May God give you the victory.
